Mike Clough and Discussion of Wolves was a hit!

Our Pushing the Limits discussion programs were so popular that we used the leftover money from the grant to fund another program!  Once again  Mike Clough from the Southern Vermont Natural History Museum moderated this discussion, this time with the theme of Balance.   Paperback copies of Winter Study by Nevada Barr were available free at the library.  This popular mystery series takes palace in a different National Park in each book.  This book's setting is Isle of Royale National Park in the middle of Lake Superior.  Mike has a connection to this Park and to the study of wolves which made him even more of a great choice of moderator!  Wolves are a main character in this book and the balance of humans and these animals is precarious!  We will also watched a short author piece and another film on wolves being brought back to Yosemite National Park.  Mike even brought a pelt of a coyote and a wolf so that we all could see just how big the wolf is in relation to our coyotes of this area.  Mike was so informative that folks tended to stay out of the conversation and just let him talk!  We will try to make up more of these types of discussions in the coming year!

Celebrating Our New Look and the Community that Helped!

The Library got  a facelift this summer!  With a new yellow paint job, new carpeting and a bit of rearranging the place looks clean and fresh!  This all couldn't have been accomplished without the help of many volunteers!   Thursday November 13th 21people joined us for a fun evening of celebration!  There were some wonderful selections of Thankful short stories read by the library trustees and time to admire the new look, have some snacks and enjoy our library community.   There were a total of 30 people who helped move books, shelving, desks and computers into the hall and then move them all back in again(in the correct order!)  Many folks did multiple shifts and some came for a short time to lend some real muscles when needed.  It was an overwhelming task made fun by the wonderful community members lending a hand!  Our thanks go out to everyone of them!

Destiny is here!
We have a new automation system that is now going to be available to view from your home!  Now you can view our catalog and see what is available online!  To set up a password to look at your own checkouts please call or stop by the library!
